Wardrobe Essentials #2: Belt Hole Punch
We've all been there. You find the perfect belt to accessorize your outfit only to find it doesn't have enough holes to be secured as tight as you'd like, or the perfect spot between too tight and too loose rests in between two holes.
Ever discover the most perfect pair of shoes in a store, but when you try them on you run out of holes for THE most comfortable fit? What are some of the things you've resorted to in the absence of a leather hole-punch? Have you risked stabbing yourself or causing serious injury to yourself in an attempt to create that extra hole with a knife or a pair of scissors?
For a while, I used a seam ripper, typically used to rip the sewn seams of clothing. This was a leftover tool from my days of trying to sew my own clothes. It found a second life slicing holes into my belts and shoe straps in an effort to get that elusive extra hole I needed.
And then I discovered this doohickey on amazon.com, a tool which I imagined was only available to cobblers to whom I'd have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to have a single hole perfectly punched in my belt or shoes. Turns out I can punch my own holes for just $12.99.
It's easy to use and works extremely well. You don't need to be super strong to activate the various punches that will create the hole size of your choice. This is one of those things you wonder how you managed to live life without, once you discover it exists. I've only had it for nearly a year and it's already paid for itself in the amount of perfect holes, not slices, I've been able to add to belts and shoes in a matter of seconds. If you wear shoes and belts, you need this. If you have purses, bags, fancy backpacks with adjustable belted straps, you NEED this. Every home should have one!
