Loungewear/Weekend Fashion Diary 8#: Robes, Slippers, & Self-Care Days
For me, self-care days or weekends just aren't complete without a robe and comfy cozy slippers to slip into after an indulgent bath or shower. Nothing feels as luxurious as hopping out of the shower, slathering on your favorite moisturizer and enveloping your clean and supple skin in a robe; sliding your feet into a pair of comfy slippers. You're then able to sit or stand in front of your mirror for indulgent skincare, hair care or - if going out later - putting on make-up without messing up your outfit.
I take my robe life very seriously; having a few in various colors, textures, fabrics to span the seasons. Silky satin ones are great for Spring and Summer, but they aren't my favorite. Even after tying the inner ribbon that's supposed to keep your robe from coming undone, it still manages to come undone with slippery silky/satiny fabrics. Robes made of terry or thicker plush material tend to be more hardy; staying tied with or without that inner ribbon done up. Those are the ones I'm going to feature in this post; providing links to similar ones, since I've had most of these for a while and they may no longer be available online.
Now, where I used to have one or two pairs of slippers to coordinate amongst all my robes, I recently branched out during a Nasty Gal haul and picked up a few additional pairs. It was a crazy good sale and I couldn't resist.
Fuzzy/furry thong slippers are great for Miami's mild Winter temperatures. Warm flip flops for those bipolar weather days when feet need to be both free, yet mildly warm. What I really love about these Krush branded ones from Nasty Gal is, although they're soft and plush against your skin, the bottom sole is super sturdy so feet and ankles remain balanced when walking. I love a super soft slipper, but when the soles are too flat or flimsy, I find my feet either sliding out of them or ankles nearly twisting from the lack of support. Sadly, they were sold out of the black during my little spree, but if they ever come back in stock, I'm on it! My robe and slippers game is incomplete without them.
