Style Diary: Fall 2022 Fashion Wish List
The end of Summer is rapidly approaching and as I add items to my wardrobe I've come to notice a strong trend towards neutrals; specifically black and white. Another trend I've been leaning heavily towards are stripes, polka dots and zebra stripes, which came in strong for Spring/Summer, but hitting a crescendo for Fall. Everything that's been catching my eye, being added to my favorites and ultimately landing in my cart for checkout has been some variant of all these things - black, white, polka dots and stripes. Honorable mention goes to shades of browns and grays. Now, most people would think that's the standard for the season, but for someone like myself who's been having a hot and heavy love affair with bright, bold and vivid colors, recently, it's quite a change.
"Clean Girl Aesthetic"
Recently, I discovered this neutral trend is being called the Clean Girl Aesthetic. The thought behind the label is geared towards clean, simple and minimalist classic style. Think capsule wardrobe. I tried the capsule wardrobe thing decades ago and while it did make getting dressed quick and easy because everything was in a specific color palette, it did get old after a while. Variety is truly the spice of life and I embrace that fully. As a result, I do find myself having lots of clothing that's similar, yet different, that gets worn only once or maybe twice during the year. The upside to that is my penchant for affordable clothing means I can sometimes take the risk on not the best quality when it comes to fabrics because odds are I'm not going to be wearing the item to death. An additional benefit to that is my extremely affordable items last me years and years. The cost per wear ratio is off the charts, yet my items remain in pristine condition if I take care of them properly in the wash and with storage.

So, while this new idea of the Clean Girl Aesthetic isn't exactly new, I kinda feel like I'm falling into that category, lately, but with a twist. Instead of a few items I can wear on repeat, I find myself acquiring various items in a certain palette that all work together, but each item so different and elaborate it will keep things looking fresh and new each time I wear them. And since I'm a woman who's a lover of color at heart, there still may be a pop of color thrown into the mix for the sake of not boring myself.
Below, are some of the many items of the same color pattern that have found their way into my shopping wish lists, online shopping carts and possibly in my closet. As always, because I live in a warm climate like Miami, super heavy items are few and far between, but the majority of my pieces can be worn now and easily transition from end of Summer to Fall and into what we experience down here as Winter.
Almost no single item is over $25 and will perfectly assimilate into my current wardrobe. Let me know if you have a favorite!
