Style Diary: Spring 2022 Fashion Wish List

It's Spring, again! And, as always, I'm not truly ready. Fall and Winter seem to go by fairly quickly when you live in a climate that's warm and tropical for majority of the chilly season. I've barely had enough opportunities to wear even a fraction of my cute boots, booties, sweaters and jackets. Ho hum, that's the way the Miami Winter cookie crumbles! Although many places are still in the thick of Winter weather, the fashion world already has Spring on its mind. That means fashion content creators and bloggers must begin planning and working on Spring related material for the approaching season.

So, even though I'm still hoping for a couple more crisp days before I have to pack my cold-weather items away, my thoughts are already on pieces I'd like to add to my wardrobe for the warmer days to come. Apparently, I'm not the only one. As I was "window shopping" online for things to add to my Wish List, items were already going out of stock! What I mean by window shopping online is I go to all my favorites retailers and add every and anything that tickles my fancy into my cart. And then I usually let it sit there for a a few days or weeks until I'm ready to buy. By the time I am willing and feeling comfortable enough to pull the trigger and watch the money fly out of my bank account, it's possible some items are no longer of interest or have sold out in my size. And that's OK. This helps with minimizing impulse purchase because if it's no longer available, I simply can't buy it. And if it's no longer of interest, I simply delete it from my cart. What's left are items I still have some attachment to, but that still doesn't mean I'm going to buy all of them. I might decide to do a haul and purchase just the things I'm most excited to add to my closet at that moment. The rest will linger a while longer in my favorites until the next time I'm ready to buy and, again - due to the passage of time - more will have sold out or no longer tickle my fancy. This is typically how I whittle my fashion wish lists down. Start off big with everything in the cart and then things get pared down due to lack of stock or waning interest.

Today, I'm going to feature some of the things at the top of my Wish List. Some, I've already pulled the trigger on and purchase, previously, and some I purchased more recently. As I went back to my cart to gather photos for this blog post, items were already becoming out of stock or were in low stock territory. I panicked on some of my lingering faves and made another purchase on things that were low stock. The prices were just too good to risk. Mind you, I just added some of these pieces to my cart yesterday, and as of this morning, they were gone. Ugh! So, there's a couple of things featured below that are goners. My apologies!

The Yellow Dress

I've become obsessed with yellow dresses for Spring! I don't know what it is, but my mind is heavy on this mustardy hue. It was on my radar last year and for Fall, but I'm really feeling the sunshine vibes this time around. Only one dress will make the cut and these are ones that made the final list. As you can see, they're all very different. I've already made my choice, which I'll feature in an upcoming post, but which is your fave?

Fresh Whites

Spring wouldn't be Spring if I didn't add a few fresh white pieces to my wardrobe. Every time the seasons change I clear out my closet and part with some oldie goldies, which I'm looking to replace with the items below. My fashion motto is that you can NEVER have too many white shirts. They're my fashion go-to and I'm always looking for various tops with unique details that separate them from the rest. Those white sandal heels are actually something that's missing from my wardrobe, which is practically a crime living in Miami. My explanation is I'm super picky about white shoes. I find they have to be barely there to suit my feet and these appear to fit the bill. They also have my favorite detail on a shoe - ankle wrap! Now, for as much as I love my white bikini, I decided to go with something a little more sophisticated and romantic, this year. With the off-the-shoulder/one-shoulder detail I also love, there was no way I could leave this in my cart with "low stock" lurking just beneath. Finding a similar and affordable suit in this color and style was going to be a headache (I paid only $15!). Where I was planning to let it sit and marinate in my cart for a while, I made the decision to check on out. And, now I can sleep at night. First-world Fashionista problems. 😊

Bold Colors

Just as I become enamored with vivid colors last Summer/Fall/Winter, that love is carrying over into Spring 2022. The bright pinks, oranges, yellows and greens are hard to resist. I think after being stuck at home for a whole year (2020) and wearing tie-dye and neutral loungewear for most of it, being able to get out the house and live a little in 2021 brought on an affinity for colors that signify living out loud. There's a few soft and demure pastel items on my wish list, this year, but the majority is comprised of bold tones and patterns. Give me all the color and chaotic patterns. Life is too short to wear quiet clothing! Check out some of the favorite eye-catching pieces I'm thinking about adding to my closet this season.

Softer Tones

Now, having said I'm in love with colors that POP, I still have some love for softer tones. In this instance, most of the items below are staples missing from my wardrobe. A crisp baby blue shirt, a soft blue blazer and a mauve shirt. Gingham is one of my favorite patterns and since I have a variety of items in black and white theme, I wanted to add some gingham pieces in other colors. A few of my favorite designers featured gingham in their Spring/Summer collections in softer tones and, right now, these dresses in green and white are speaking to me. I purchased one of them as it was also in "low stock" status, but I don't consider it an impulse buy. It's classic enough to last in my closet for quite some time as a staple.

Neutral Tones

Like whites, you can't let a season come and go without adding a few fresh neutrals. In addition to my love for bold colors and patterns, I'm a little obsessed with stripes, which were also very prominent on the runway for this Spring/Summer season. The gray button down was my top fave, but -alas- it sold out overnight. That style and shade of gray is so hard to find. Sad times, indeed!😒 But I feel lucky to have scored that wide waist-belt, also lingering in low-stock territory this morning. It's similar to a designer version that's super expensive and becoming very popular. I actually like this version better than luxury one because it can easily be worn either way - front to back or back to front and all for just $10! I would consider this my one trendy item as I'm not certain it's something I'll keep in my wardrobe for long. It's something I want to play around with to see if it suits me, but if it doesn't, it cost no more than a takeout lunch.

What are you excited to wear for Spring? Let me know in the comments if any of my faves are your faves, too!
