Style Diary: Spring/Summer Cardigans

It's MAY and I understand for certain parts of the globe it's still somewhat chilly or you're experiencing bipolar weather; 70 degrees one day and snow flurries the next. And some of us are dealing with chilly mornings and evenings, but feeling quite warm or sweltering mid-day. For days where the temperatures can fluctuate it can be hard to decide what to wear. For me, the cardigan is a fashion life saver. Whether lightweight or a tad more substantial, the goal is to be able to add or remove an article of clothing with ease to suit my temperature needs. If it's lightweight enough, you can even wear it on its own as a button-up top throughout the day. In my opinion, cardigans are forever a classy staple and not just for grandmas.

Now, working with the cardigan is a little different when it comes to layering because you can always throw on a jean or leather (faux) jacket as outerwear, but you may not necessarily plan to wear that item all day. Wearing the cardigan is more like part of your outfit rather than just serving as outerwear. I like to make sure the cardigan I choose is fashionable with the rest of my outfit. When I take it off, it can be easily tied around my waist or thrown over my shoulders as an accessory, leaving my hands free. With other outerwear you can find yourself carrying it around in your hands should you need to shed that outer layer.

For those who aren't fans of having their arms out regardless of how hot it is, a sheer, lightweight and barely there cardigan makes for a great cover-up while keeping cool!
