Styling Ideas 1 - One Outfit + Various Occasions: Demin Skirt and Neutral Top

When I shop, the various ways in which I can style something is always top of mind. Can I transition it from one season to another? Will it serve me year-round or is it something I should expect to get a limited amount of wear out of? Of course, if the price is more than I would normally pay, these questions are heightened. Being someone who gets a kick out of shopping affordably (who doesn't love a steal?) and prefers a vast variety, if I'm going to splurge on something it has to be versatile enough to make me part with my money. Only if I fall madly in love with a piece does caution go out the window. My goal, however, is to always find a bargain with versatility; a combo that makes my heart happy.
For the first entry to this styling series, let's start with this denim skirt and t-shirt.
(IGTV /YouTube video is at the end of this post, below)

First, the top isn't your standard t-shirt. It's asymmetrical at the neckline so that it naturally falls off the shoulder for a sexy vibe. That detail, alone, takes what could be a basic tee up a notch. Even though the sleeves are long, the fabric is thin and breathable, and the sleeves are easy to push up when things are steamy. However, in many places where it's hot, you can find yourself indoors for periods of time where the A/C is really kicking and after you've cooled down, things can turn downright chilly. At the point, you can simply let your pushed up sleeves down for a layer of warmth. This will keep you from having to traipse around with a sweater or cardigan for those moments. Just wear a shirt/blouse that's convertible to hot and cooler temps.
This denim skirt comes in a nice light-blue wash, which is perfect for the season, and buttons up the front, which gives it, too, a slight edge over your typical jean skirt. The raw-cut hem adds an element of edginess and keeps things casual, but that doesn't mean you can't soften the look, if you must. Accessories like a rounded bag with a colorful scarf tied around the handle brings a ladylike touch to the look. The chain belt, borrowed from another item where I didn't think it fit best, contributes to both the casual, but ladylike vibe.
Check out the various ways I've styled them up to suit various occasions and let me know if you have a fave or disagree.
Brunch Date/Ladylike
Paired with wedge heels and dangly earrings.
Weekend Shopping/Casual
Paired with espadrille sandals, hoop earrings, funky shades and a totebag for purchases.
Vacation/Casual & Comfortable
This vacation look includes espadrilles for an elevated casual look, while the flats are for long hours of sightseeing on foot. A crossbody bag keeps hands free for taking photos and enjoying snacks as you walk.
In conclusion, just by changing a few accessories, you can vary the vibe of an outfit to suit its purpose.
